Description

A delicious rum produced by one of the finest Rhum Agricole makers around, Saint James.

This rum was first released in 2015, to celebrate the Martinique distillery’s 250th anniversary (1765 being the estate’s year of foundation, of course, though it was known as Saint Jacques back then). A Rhum Agricole, this spirit is distilled not from molasses, but from fermented juice of the sugar cane.

To create this rum, Saint James enlisted the help of master blender Myriam Bredas and oenologist Marc Sassier. Between them, they blended together six different rums, aged in French Limousin oak and former Bourbon barrels, in an attempt to recall what 18th century rum would have tasted like.

The result is a delight to the senses. Whilst this rum retains classic Agricole flavours of flowers, lime zest and grassy cane, they are tempered somewhat by the maturation of the spirit, with strong oaky notes of wood spice, cask funk, vanilla, oily nuts, dried fruit and butterscotch coming to the fore.
