Description
Inspired by Montgomery Collins’ Black Forest Dry Gin, this masterful creation boasts floral notes, the zesty freshness of citrus fruits, a prominent juniper tone, a peppery and spicy mouthfeel, and a subtle hint of cranberries for that unmistakable “je ne sais quoi.”
Hand-produced using traditional methods, Monkey 47 is a blend of 47 plant ingredients, a closely guarded secret known only to Alexander Stein and distiller Christoph Keller.
Country: Germany
ABV: 47%
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Oh there is a lot going on here… woody, vegetable smells under pin fresh grassy citrus notes and botanical sweetness, like a pine forest after the rain.
Palate: Predictably complex, this is a robust and powerful gin with plenty of spice, fruit and herb flavours. It’s very well structured, and difficult to unpick but a citrus fresh start segues into pine and wood notes for a drying finish.
Finish: Wooded and reassuringly heavy.
