Brandy is a strong alcoholic spirit distilled from wine or other fermented fruit juices. Typically made from grapes, but also apples, peach, apricot, plums, cherries etc. (classified as “flavored brandies”). Some brandies are aged in wooden barrels, others are unaged.
There is many types of brandy which can be found around the world, and many countries have local variants of their own brandies. However, there are only three major brandy types – grape brandy, fruit brandy, and pomace brandy. We can break them all into two rough groups: unaged grape spirits and aged grape spirits.
